Fresh Paint

It's back!

This year's Winter Park Paint Out is now underway.  A Local staple for Art LUVers for over a decade, this will be the first truly "normal" event since 2019.

In 2020, Covid 19 took root just a month before the event was to kick off that year.  In 2021 the event was moved to the fall and last year, 2022, while a sense of normalcy was returning, this year promises to deliver the real deal!  PLEASE, Mother Nature, hop on board!  (Paint dries best in sun, NOT rain.)

Plein air basically means painting outdoors.  The subjects can be anything, from flowers and trees, lakes and bridges, to houses and buildings, statues and fountains.  The big common factor in the Winter Park Paint out is that each work is from our immediate area, created this week.

There are a total of 24 participating Artists, with a number of them with Local roots.  Artists this year include:

The Albin Polasek Museum & Gardens serves as the base of operations, and all works created around Winter Park are delivered there each afternoon to evening.  Once framed, those works are then hung in the museum's main gallery space, ready to be enjoyed and purchased.  Not all works make it to those walls, as I have myself observed numerous sales or new works go down on the sidewalks where they are being painted, sometimes unfinished.

This year's poster features the amazing work of Charles Dickinson!

As Locals are out and about this week, always a good idea to keep an eye out for painters creating their latest offering.  Yes, you'll find them in expecting spots like the Central Park rose garden, but many of these Artists have been here numerous times over the years and they like to keep their works diverse.  From experience, you just never know where you may find them.

There are events all week, including demonstrations at The Polasek Museum, the wonderful 'Paint IN' event at the Winter Park Racquet Club and, then, the finale Garden Party at The Polasek Museum on Saturday.  More on that here:  https://www.winterparkpaintout.org/events/.

By the museum today, I can tell you are that already new works which paint our most iconic settings so, so beautifully!  Stay tuned to the @MyWinterParkNeighbor, @ILUVParkAvenue & @ILUVWinterPark social media this week for images and info!
